You may have noticed I didn’t post this much the past month. We were within our budget for September-and even a bit below it- but I didn’t get around to posting.  We started the month with bad news, two stomach viruses,  a cold that circulated through all 5 of us, a rough start to the school year for one kiddo, and I was working as many hours as I could.

The good thing is, I always use cash when I go shopping, so even when we are just surviving, I am still sticking to my grocery budget.

It’s a new month and here we are, ready to start off on the right foot!

Dorothy Lane Market: $98.40

Yep, lots of comfort food.

Kroger: $45.89

Since the transition from summer to school is over,we are back to drinking juice in our Rubbermaid Reusable Juice Boxes. I bought a 6-pack when my son started 1st grade. Here we are at the start of 4th grade and they are still working great with no leaks!

Our son likes water in his juice box, but our daughter likes half water and half apple juice. I buy a ton of apple juice when I can get it for $1/each. That makes each juice box drink mere pennies each day.

Monthly Goal: $600.00

Weekly Total: $144.29

Running Total: $144.29

Feeding 5 For $150 Per Week: 3rd Week of August 2017

Kroger: $143.81

More back-to-school stocking up! It sounds crazy, but I am even planning ahead to make a copycat Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole for Thanksgiving, and picked up those cheap Ore-Ida frozen hashbrowns.

We skipped Green Bean Delivery this week but will probably get it next week.

Monthly goal: $600

Weekly total: $143.81

Running total: $450.32

Feeding 5 for $150 Per Week: 2nd Week of August 2017

Kroger: $142.45

School starts for us next week and I’ll have to start getting up at 7 again. Do I have to? Yep, I make lunch easy the first month. You’re talking to the person who did not take any classes before 930 or 10 am in college. I don’t mind making my mornings easier as long as it’s in the budget.

Monthly goal: $600

Weekly total: $142.45

Running total: $306.51

Feeding 5 for $150 per Week: 4th Week of July 2017

Dorothy Lane: $ 88.84

We knew we didn’t “need” much, since we still have massive amounts of food we are working through. I decided to splurge on something from Dorothy Lane, our expensive local specialty store. Fancy sugar cookies, fancy honey mustard, Boar’s Head turkey pastrami, Amish grown veggies, dill pickle dip, and guac.

Kroger: $45.48

Feel free to ignore our messy recycling 🙂

Monthly goal: $600

Weekly total: $134.32

End of month total: $484.44
