Frugal Steps and Stumbles

Frugal Steps:

  1. I am trialing ABCMouse for 30 days for free.
  2. No shifts were available this week, but I earned by entering backlogged discharges, attending a meeting, and a 2 hour mandatory training.
  3. I used my Paypal balance to pay for membership in the Ohio Association for Gifted Children.
  4. I used our Wahl Color Pro clippers to cut my husband’s and my son’s hair.
  5. I ordered something from Amazon and it never showed up, so I contacted customer service. They refunded the entire amount.
  6. I baked cookies from scratch.
  7. We went swimming at the community pool, which is paid for by our HOA fees.
  8. I don’t shop at Meijer because it is a bit far to drive, but when they had peanut butter for $1/jar this week, my mom picked up half a dozen jars for me.
  9. I signed up for Duolingo, which is free, and am brushing up on my French and learning a little Spanish.

Frugal Stumbles:

  1. We decided to order pizza when our son’s friend spent the night.

  • Social spending is the worst! I don’t regret spending when I’m the host though because it’s a nice thing to do and our friends typically reciprocate next time. It does bother me though when I host a bigger gathering like a BBQ and I spend all this money on food and it gets wasted at the end of the event. I told my fiancé I’m not doing it (hosting BBQs) anymore.
